Come join an amazing, friendly crowd of dance enthusiasts at East of Texas barbecue, 907 S Broad St, Winston-Salem, NC 27101, every Tuesday. We host a dance lesson starting at 6:15pm, then a social dance from 7pm until 9pm.
Price
Your entry includes the lesson and social: $10 each, or $7 for full-time students, teachers, military/vets, and first responders.
Dance lessons at 6:15pm
Lessons are taught by our awesome local teachers (Heather, Andrew, and friends), and rotate each week between different dances. Check here for our calendar. Lessons are beginner friendly, and no partner is required. We’ll always cover the basic steps at the very beginning, them progress through fun moves & technique that give you enough to have fun and challenge yourself on the dance floor!
We invite students to rotate throughout the class, so you’ll get to meet and dance with everyone there, which is also a great way to feel the variety of lead and follow techniques. We encourage intermediate and advanced dancers to come and help us build the scene – and we always aim to include moves that expand your dance vocabulary, too!
Social Dancing from 7pm+
We always ensure the social dance has a good amount of music for whatever dance we taught that night, while rotating through a variety of great social dancing music, including:
- Salsa
- Bachata
- Merengue
- Zouk
- Cumbia
- Cha Cha
- Kizomba
- and more!
Venue
When the weather permits, we’ll dance outside on a covered patio with wood floor; if raining, or too hot or cold, we’ll be inside. East of Texas serves fantastic food and drinks, and there’s ample indoor and outdoor seating, bathrooms, and amazing service. You can even place an order before the lesson and ask them to have it ready for you at 7pm when the lesson is over 🙂 You can park for free in the gravel parking lot or find street parking behind. There’s wifi too!

Kids & pets?
East of Texas is a family and pet friendly place. However, we ask that you ensure kids and pets do not interfere with the lesson or class, and are kept supervised.
